Kayla Thomas

A year after the launch of the Morning Blend, a viewer e-mailed Mary and Mike, “I don’t know who was responsible for getting you two together on your morning show, but I just have to say that they are geniuses.”

Morning Blend Executive Producer Kayla Thomas is proud to take credit for recruiting the Blend’s hosts and for the vision behind the Morning Blend in Omaha!

What else does an Executive Producer do?  Kayla’s job is to manage the scheduling of guests and to work with those guests to make their interviews on the show are as fun, meaningful and as memorable as possible.   She also spends time working on the Blend website and social media, coordinating contests, taking viewer phone calls, and of course managing the daily chaos behind the scenes.  And if a sheep defaces the set, she’s usually the one on cleanup duty.  Kayla also contributes to the show frequently as a live reporter, fill-in host, prom dress model, or general guinea pig.

Kayla has a long history working in broadcasting, both in front of the camera and behind the scenes.  Her career has taken her to Rockford, Illinois; Baton Rouge, LA; and Jackson, Mississippi, before she happily returned to her hometown of Omaha in 2002.  She came back home to work as a producer and reporter for KMTV.  She’s won awards for her coverage of feature, sports and even agriculture stories.

Kayla is a graduate of Omaha’s Mercy High School and a magna cum laude graduate of Loyola University Chicago (home of her beloved Chicago Cubs).  When she’s not at work, Kayla is the proud wife of Marc, mother of Tommy and Louie, and dog mom to two giant yellow dogs named Lucky and Belle.   She enjoys reality TV, therapeutic shopping (often with Mary), sports of all kinds and heading to kickboxing class.  She also loves to run and has completed four half marathons!  That’s to make up for her other love: food!  Especially restaurants unique to Omaha.

She loves hearing from Blend viewers.   E-mail her your ideas at:  kayla@omahamorningblend.com
