The town of Murray, NE, is remembering a family killed a year ago by incorporating touches of pink across the community.

Pink lights and ribbons can be spotted around town to honor the Speer and Perez family. Many have had their pink memorials up for the year.

Mike and Michelle Speer, along with daughters Elli Perez, Emma, Adilynn and Anniston, died in a house fire on their family farm near Weeping Water a year ago. The fire marshal ruled the fire originated in the fireplace.

Before moving to their farm site, the family lived in Murray. The children went to Conestoga community schools.

Conestoga Elementary School just completed its Mike and Michelle Speer Family Performance Area, complete with a fountain and flowering trees.
