Omaha native Ean Mikale wants to give back to his city and grow his hometown.

"I wanted to keep my talents where my home is."

Running for mayor, Mikale says he wants to make the proper changes to make Omaha a better place to live.

"I was tired of hearing all of the complaints throughout the city especially with my family."

After graduating from Howard University, Mikale made his way back to Nebraska.

He studied law at the University Of Nebraska College Of Law.

He says his education and life experience gave him a voice for those who feel they may not have one.

"That's what we are supposed to do as leaders, we are supposed to step up to make sure we can represent those who may not have the capabilities, or skill set to represent themselves."

Mikale says as mayor he wants to hit three major points.

"Focusing on education, entrepreneurship and emerging technologies."

He says this will attract young professionals to the city and keep them here.

"Everyone in the city wants to make sure their child has the best opportunity in order to be successful, so that's something that goes across demographics."

Mikale says investing in entrepreneurship helps retain talent and provide jobs.

He also wants to change the way Omaha does healthcare, bringing relief to tax payers.

"We are going to make Omaha a global market place for innovation and insurance on the healthcare industry.”

“We are going to start that by making a 1.5 million dollar impact bond."

Violence is another issue Mikale says he plans to address.

"Instead of having the rookies go to the worst part of town we are going to have our streets policed by

people who live in those communities.
