With camping season right around the corner RV owners and the City of Papillion are butting heads about what's allowed and what's not.

"Why do we have these restrictions?”

“Why were they put into place in the first place?"

Alan Brummel is head of Papillion RV Owners Citizen Group he says he's had enough of the city's restrictions.

"We don't want you to do this because of these reasons, so they are really, in our opinion, not valid reasons at all."

In fact Brummel says the current ordinance is already strict.

According to city hall the rules have been the same since 1995.

All trailers and campers must be 20 feet or shorter to be parked in driveways.

Brummel’s camper is more than 20 feet long.

"To go from a size 26 to 20 just so you can fit it on your property they don't make them."

Currently class A RVs are not allowed to be parked in driveways, but Class B and C RVs are with no size restrictions.

Now the city proposed that Class B and C RVs be 20 feet to be parked in driveways and some neighbors agree.

"I think they should have a lot for them to park, I don't think residential areas are a place for RVS or boats."

Brummel says storage areas are expensive and inconvenient.

"There are a lot of different reasons to have it on your property which we explained to city council.”

Brummel says he wants the city to eliminate the size restriction and do away with classifying RVS as commercial vehicles.

"We bought our property and we should be able to utilize it fairly."

The city is also asking for Class B and C RV owners to get a waiver to continue parking in their driveway.

It has not yet been finalized. City Hall plans to meet with RV owners again next Tuesday.
