Target announced this week plans to remodel 500 of its nationwide locations in the next two years, to create an efficient, more modern retail experience.

The first of these renvisioned Target locations will be unveiled in October near Houston. In addition to the Houston-area store, another 40 stores will be remodeled in October.

The remodeled Target locations will offer two separate entrances for customers. One of the entrances will be for those making a quick visit to Target to either pick up items ordered online or for groceries. This entrance will also have a beer and wine selection, as well as a self-checkout option.

Outside of this entrance will have dedicated parking spots for customers opting to have their online items delivered to their car.

Another entrance will be designed for shoppers who plan on browsing Target's selection.

“With our next generation of store design, we’re investing to take the Target shopping experience to the next level by offering more elevated product presentations and a number of time-saving features,” said Target’s chairman and CEO Brian Cornell. “The new design for this Houston store will provide the vision for the 500 reimagined stores planned for 2018 and 2019, with the goal of taking a customized approach to creating an enhanced shopping experience.”

This week's announcement follows a previous announced when Target announced it is opening up to 100 small-format stores in dense urban areas and college campuses.
