Creighton's Volleyball team collects six BIG EAST Honors

Creighton's Lydia Dimke was named BIG EAST Volleyball Player of the Year and the Bluejays were also honored with BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year.

Creighton had a total of five women honored with all-conference recognition in the awards. Dimke, Jaali Winters and Taryn Kloth were named First Team All-BIG EAST, while Marysa Wilkinson and Lauren Smith were Second Team All-BIG EAST. 

Dimke is Creighton's first BIG EAST Volleyball Player of the Year in program history. She owns 15 double-doubles this fall while leading the BIG EAST with 11.38 assists per set ranking her 11th nationally. She also ranks 11th in the league with 2.76 digs per set to lead all setters.

Winters was named to the First Team All-BIG EAST honors for the second consecutive season after leading Creighton with 3.41 kills per set. She leads all BIG EAST outside hitters with 2.83 digs per set and ranks in the top-10 of the BIG EAST in both kills and digs per set, with a total of nine double-doubles this fall. Winters was a Third Team All-America last year, when she was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Year and AVCA East Region Freshman of the Year. 

Kloth ranks sixth in the BIG EAST with 3.81 points per set, eighth in kills per set (3.33) and 11th in hitting percentage (.307). Kloth's .307 hitting percentage this fall is the best of any outside hitter in program history for a single-season.

Wilkinson was named Second Team All-BIG EAST, averaging 2.45 kills and leads the team while ranking in the top-eight of the BIG EAST with a .337 hitting percentage and 0.95 blocks per set.

Smith earned All-BIG EAST for the third consecutive season, owning the program record for matches started and set played. She averages 2.17 kills and 0.93 blocks per set while hitting .334. Smith is a finalist nationally for the Senior CLASS Award.

No. 1 seeded Creighton (24-6, 18-0 BIG EAST) heads to Indianapolis, Indiana to take on No. 4 seeded Seton Hall (16-15, 10-8 BIG EAST) Friday in the semifinals of the BIG EAST Championships. The match is set to start at 11:30 a.m. and can be viewed on BEDN.
