Creighton volleyball's Marysa Wilkinson was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. This past Saturday, the middle blocker from Lincoln became the 13th Bluejay in program history to reach the 1,000 career kills mark.

"It feels really good," Wilkinson said. "I feel like I've improved too and it helps with the coaching staff we have and all the players that we have. We have great parity and I think that's what helps make me great too."

"Marysa's been a key cog and I couldn't believe she wasn't a first team all-conference kid last year," said Jays head coach Kirsten Bernthal Booth. "And she should've been. Her stats back up that she should've been. She really took over in the NCAA Tournament last year and then she's just picked up from where she started."

The 12th ranked Jays are on the road Thursday against a Marquette team that's 5-0 in conference play.
