According to our partners at the Omaha World-Herald, the University of Nebraska has extended the contract of head football coach Mike Riley one year through the 2020 season.

Lee Barfknecht brokethe news late Monday night.

NU President Hank Bounds told Barfknecht on Monday that he expects to sign Riley to another year extension again after the regular season.

“I have great confidence in Mike, to extend his contract to four years,” Bounds said. “I expect us to compete, and I have every confidence that we’ll extend it again in December.”

However, Bounds believed the current extension did not include a salary increase. Riley is making $2.9 million this fiscal year according to Barfknecht's report.
