Western Michigan beats Omaha in overtime to win NCHC quarterfinal series

The Omaha hockey team falls to Western Michigan in OT of NCHC quarterfinal series. 

Once again the Mavericks were first to score this time with a power play goal by Tyler Vesel at 6:31. The Broncos tied the game at 19:31 with a goal by Griffen Molino. 

Western Michigan came ready to fight in overtime with Michael Rebry with a goal just 34 seconds in. Rebry's goal gave Western Michigan a 2-1 win over Omaha and a 2-1 win in their best-of-three NCHC quarterfinal series. 

Omaha's Evan Weninger made 30 saves Sunday while Ben Blacker recorded 22. 

Western Michigan advance to the NCHC Frozen Faceoff against Minnesota Duluth. 

Omaha finished its season with a record of 17-17-5. Omaha's Austin Ortega finished his college career fourth all-time in scoring at UNO with 139 points and second with 70 goals.
