Summer heat has returned, and we added another 90-degree day in September. The total number this month is now four compared to August one 90-degree day.
The average number of 90-degree days in September is only three, and it appears we could tack on a couple more by the end of the week.
So far this summer, we've recorded 38 days with highs above 90, which started in May. That is 10 above the average in a year, and well above the average high this time of year of 76 degrees.
Temperatures won't be as hot Wednesday with highs in the 70s and 80s, but the heat builds in again Thursday and Friday with highs around 90. Another system coming late this weekend will drop temperatures again.
That means the first day of fall, which begins at 3:02 p.m. on Friday, will feel more like summer.
