Aaron Hegarty joined KMTV in July 2019, focusing on investigations.
While attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, he worked for the Omaha World-Herald, Fremont Tribune and spent a summer working on the investigative team at USA Today.
Aaron is a lifelong Nebraskan who grew up in Fremont. At UNL, he started as a computer science major, but missed the storytelling he did at his high school newspaper. He studied data journalism at UNL and graduated in 2019 with a journalism degree and minors in informatics, political science, and math.
When he isn’t working, Aaron might be catching up on the Huskers, listening to a podcast, or out in nature.
