Creighton University officials have suspended the campus chapter of the Phi Kappa Psi fraternity until 2025.

The statement from Creighton says it conducted an extensive investigation and a review hearing on March 17. The university notified the chapter of the decision today.

The eight-year suspension comes after an investigation into a stabbing on February 11 in a Creighton dorm. 19-year-old Christopher Wheeler is accused of cutting a woman's neck with a pocket knife. He's charged with felony assault. Wheeler's lawyers said he was with members of Phi Kappa Psi at their off-campus house hours before the alleged incident that injured two students. Wheeler has since been banned from campus.

The school suspended the chapter on February 13 following additional reports of underage drinking, hazing and the distribution of drugs.

Creighton's Center for Student integrity found "multiple, serious violations of the University's code of conduct and anti-hazing policies" according to the news release.

The news release says, "no fraternity activity of any kind is allowed until the suspension expires, but the Phi Kappa Psi headquarters may contact Creighton in January 2024 to begin the process of re-colonization planning efforts."
