Omaha firefighters braved subfreezing temperatures as they battled a mobile home fire Wednesday evening.

Firefighters were called to the home in the Maplewood Estates mobile home park near 124th & Maple just before 8:30 p.m.. Firefighters say smoke and flames were coming from the trailer home when they arrived and the occupants had safely escaped. They were also able to revive a cat that was overcome by smoke.

Radio reports from the scene indicate firefighters ran into nearby fire hydrant that was not working, and initially called for a water tender to assist.

This is not the first time firefighters have run into water problems at Maplewood Estates.  In December 2013 as they battled a fire that killed two small children, they encountered a hydrant that had low water pressure. At the time, MUD said since the hydrants were on private property, the property owner was responsible for maintaining the hydrants.
