The Nebraska Urban Indian Health Coalition is expanding.

"All you have to do is take a walk around the building to see that we have out grown the ten thousand square feet that we currently have, plus there's a need for housing," said CEO Donna Polk.

It serves as a place for Native Americans like Frances Parker to come and connect with other native Americans.

"We need a lot of space we have people who do puzzles and we are just scrunched up here," said Frances Parker.

The city council granted the organization 310 thousand dollars to build a new campus and office space near 23rd and N in South Omaha.

That’s something Parker says she's looking forward to.

"We will have more room and things to do, I like to come here and sit with these ladies," said Parker.

It’s a support system for those looking to get back on their feet.

"No worries about having to struggle to get the help I know I need but want," said Tyrone Sheridan.

CEO Donna Polk says the new space will offer apartment style housing unlike the duplex and dorm style spaces they are currently have.

"To accommodate programming that we want to have and space to better accommodate programs we currently have,” said Polk.

It's an effort to continue providing resources to help Native Americans thrive in society.

"To primarily help Indians access healthcare and other services."

The new location will be located at 23rd and N in South Omaha.

They will have 44 units of living space.

CEO Donna Polk says  this will be the first Indian center in Omaha.
