Beginning next year, Boy Scouts of America will allow girls to join.

The sudden change was made not only to make the organization more inclusive, but also because the organization wanted to give girls a chance to the rank of Eagle Scout.

Previously, the Boy Scouts had a co-ed venturing program, but this inclusion applies to all programs.

According to CEO Mike Surbaugh, the push for this change came from parents.

As for the other side, Fran Marshall, the CEO of Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska says this decision will in no way effect the mission or focus of Girl Scouts in the state.
