MilkWorks O in Rockbrook Village holds mom and parent groups as well as classes about breastfeeding.

Twice a month they have a "Return to Work" class that helps women who may have questions regarding the logistics of breastfeeding while at work. It is designed to give moms the tools they need to be able to continue breastfeeding.

"We see a large decrease in breastfeeding rates right around six weeks which is when a very large majority of women are going back to work," said Angie Cantrell who teaches the class.

She says most American moms return to work between six and twelve weeks postpartum. "And that can be difficult because you're just getting into the groove of breastfeeding often times. So this is all about the tips and tricks of how to maintain your supply, how to maintain that breastfeeding relationship and the products that go along with that." MilkWorks O sells pumps and other products. Many insurance plans do cover breast pumps.

In addition to classes and group sessions, MilkWorks also has certified lactation consultants to help moms. They also have a weigh station which moms can use for free during hours of operation. It's an opportunity for moms to weigh their baby, then nurse, and then weigh baby again to find out how much milk the baby is actually taking.

Methodist, CHI Health and Nebraska Medicine are among the other local places that provide lactation services for women.
