It's been a relatively quiet, dry start to September. Our overall average temperature for the month is slightly below normal, but that is about to change as summer heat builds in the next few days.
A ridge of high pressure to the south near Texas will pump in warmer air from the desert southwest, and with no major systems headed our way until the weekend, the heat will expand over the area with highs in the 80s and even 90s.
Normal highs this time of year are around 80 degrees, but we are going to exceed that this week by 5 to 10 degrees.
The 6 to 10 day outlook keeps the warmer air around, but shows some signs of rain returning. We could use some moisture since we are down for the month by a little over an inch.
