If your yard looks like mine, you might have noticed some brown patches appearing over the past few days. Even though we've had a few spotty showers the past few weeks, the overall precipitation has been sparse.
In the month of September, we've only registered a trace at Eppley Airfield. The last half-inch rainfall was on August 25.
A front hanging out to our north will provide us with a better chance for rain Saturday as it moves east in the early evening, and there is a slight chance a couple of storms could become strong or severe mainly in southwestern Iowa and southeastern Nebraska.
Rain totals are projected to be anywhere from a tenth of an inch out west to under a half inch over the metro, and an inch in western Iowa.
It appears that we are setting up for a more active weather pattern, with a better chance for rain the next 6 to 10 days. The latest update shows our area with above average precipitation.
