Preview: Nebraska and Creighton basketball set to face off Saturday

Creighton and Nebraska are ready to renew their annual in-state rivalry in front of a sold out crowd at the Centurylink Center Saturday.

The Huskers (7-3) are coming off of a major Big Ten Conference win over No. 14 Minnesota Tuesday. Nebraska held the conference's leading scorer Jordan Murphy to just 10 points in the contest.

Glynn Watson Jr. leads the team in scoring, averaging 14.5 points and 3.5 assists per game. James Palmer Jr. (14 ppg) and Isaac Copeland (12 ppg) have also put up double-digit scoring averages so far this season.

The No. 25 Jays (6-2) have had their fair share of big wins this season as well, taking down No. 20 Northwestern and No. 23 UCLA earlier this year.

Creighton's two losses this year have both come at the hands of ranked opponents, falling to No. 15 Gonzaga and No. 22 Baylor.

Marcus Foster leads the Jays in scoring at 19 points per game. Kyhri Thomas is not far behind, averaging 16.8 ppg and 4.5 rebounds per game. In its first eight games, Creighton averages 92.5 points and is shooting 51.7 percent from the floor.

The Jays have owned the series with Nebraska in recent history, winning 15 of the last 18 matchups. However, the overall series between the two is tied at 25. A win for Creighton would give the Jays their first lead in the series since 1980.

Tip off is set for Saturday, December 9 at 1:31 p.m. and will be televised live on Fox Sports 1.
