Congressman Don Bacon visited local veterans Wednesday.

Bacon says his goal was to give veterans a chance to bring their issues to his attention.

He says the gathering was very informative and he learned a lot.

People expressed concerns about not getting into the VA for mental health reasons and the time it takes to get services they need.

The Congressman wants to reform veterans assistance nationwide, not just locally.

"On the good side for us, the VA clinic here in omaha, when you get customer feedback, they rate it in the top 2% so that's good, but I think the enterprise as a whole, we need to raise the bar," said Congressman Bacon.

Congressman Bacon has two public town halls coming up. The first one takes place Saturday, April 29th in the Gretna High School Auditorium from 9 a.m. through 10 a.m..

The second town hall is at Millard West, the same day from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m..
