Creighton baseball claims regular-season BIG EAST title

After all of the action finished in BIG EAST baseball this afternoon, Creighton came out with the regular-season title. The Jays had their regular-season finale with Butler rained out this afternoon, leaving them with an 11-4 conference record.

While Creighton was heading to the airport, St. John's was battling to stay ahead of the Jays in the BIG EAST standings against Villanova. The Wildcats came away with a 9-6 win, leaving Creighton just percentage points ahead of the Red Storm in the BIG EAST race.

The Jays will be the number one seed in the BIG EAST Tournament which begins Thursday, May 25. Creighton will match up with No. 4 seeded Seton Hall in the first round Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

The winner of the BIG EAST Tournament receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Creighton has been the runner up the last three years.
