NEBRASKA
DOUGLAS COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS
- Douglas County officials on Tuesday confirmed 13 correctional officers with the Douglas County Department of Corrections have tested positive for COVID-19. All are isolating at home.
- Six incarcerated individuals have also tested positive for the virus while at Corrections.
“We have continued to escalate our response as the spread has increased,” said Mike Myers, director of Douglas County Department of Corrections. “We’ve increased the amount of personal protective equipment required for all staff. We’ve also restricted the movement of incarcerated individuals to prevent comingling among different housing units. This is an effort to protect housing units with no known cases.”
Since the onset of the pandemic, a total of 46 employees and two contractors have tested positive. In total, 59 incarcerated individuals have tested positive for COVID-19, with 12 of those individuals testing positive prior to booking.
Douglas County Corrections has about 500 employees. As of today, there are approximately 1,179 incarcerated individuals at Corrections.
DOUGLAS COUNTY
- 130 new cases of COVID-19, bringing total to 10,473
- No new deaths. Deaths remain at 134.
- 7,034 residents have recovered from the illness.
LINCOLN-LANCASTER COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT
- Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird and the Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department (LLCHD) today announced that a 16th resident has died from COVID-19 in Lincoln. The individual was a man in his 70s who was hospitalized. Mayor Gaylor Baird expressed condolences to his family and friends on behalf of the City.
- Thirty-two lab-confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Lancaster County today, bringing the community total to 3,195.
- Recoveries: up from 1,315 to 1,334
- Hospitalizations for COVID-19 positive patients: 22 with 11 from Lancaster County (four on ventilators) and 11 from other communities (one on ventilator).The testing process begins with a free online risk assessment available at BryanHealth.com, CHIHealth.com or TestNebraska.com. Drive through test sites include:
- Bryan Health: LifePointe, 7501 S. 27th St.
- CHI Health St. Elizabeth: Gateway Mall, 6100 “O” St., northwest corner of the mall.
- Test Nebraska: Gateway Mall, northwest corner of the mall. Test Nebraska appointment times are from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 6 p.m. today through Saturday.
