OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — 16-year-old Jaden Mabe was diagnosed with focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) when he was 13 years old. His mom describes it as scarring of the filters in his kidneys.
Carrie Mabe says doctors removed his kidneys in March because they were doing more harm than good to his body. "It's just been hard having to go through this and watch your son," she told us.
Jaden has treatments three times a week, and each one takes four hours.
Carrie says her son has an incredible outlook, but they are hoping to find a transplant for Jaden.
His family created a Facebook page where you can learn more about his journey.
