OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Open Door Mission has announced that it will not be taking new intakes and volunteers at Lydia House due to a small outbreak of COVID-19 cases.

Four staff and a family of four have tested positive according to the mission, and one staff member is awaiting test results.

New volunteers and intakes will not be accepted for 10 days.

"We have been diligent in following the CDC guidelines with handwashing, cleaning and mask wearing, but unfortunately we have positive cases in Lydia House," says Candace Gregory, President/CEO of Open Door Mission. "For the safety of our staff, guests, and volunteers, we are closing to new guests and will refer people who need help to other facilities and resources. We would appreciate prayers for all the ladies and families staying at Lydia House, who are already going through a challenging time, and for our staff on the front lines."

Gregory said after much prayer, he decided to hold off on accepting new people into the facility until Sept. 8.

"It gives our team time to monitor current guests for symptoms and reaches our protocols to keep everyone safe," says Gregory.

Deb Saraka will contact volunteers about rescheduling.
