OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - It's been nearly a year since flooding hit Mills County, Iowa and 11 months later the county is trying to recover from the economic impacts of the flood.
Two hundred and twenty homes inside Mills County are slated for FEMA buyout, with 159 of those houses in Pacific Junction.
The county had to postpone a major economic development deal near Agrivision headquarters when the flooding started. However, Rick Allely with the Mills County Economic Development Foundation says the county is coming out of the 2019 floods with a renewed spirit.
“We're going to be one of those counties that is going to come back bigger, better, stronger and smarter with development,” he said.
In the last year, two major companies built warehouses in the county. Allely says plans are still underway for the business developments near the Agrivision facility on Interstate 29.
