Some of the area’s finest officers were recognized Wednesday for their dedication throughout the year.
The Crime Stoppers Officer of the Year award was presented at a luncheon at the Embassy Suites in La Vista.
The Jack Swanson-Loyd Grimm award, which is named after two local law enforcement officials who played a big role in the development of the Crime Stoppers program, was awarded to Det. Candace Phillips.
Nine other officers were nominated, including Det. Patrick Depsey.
"To be nominated for a banquet like this for the Crime Stoppers is a true blessing. The officers that you are going to see today, they receive awards put together absolutely incredible investigations and put the worst of the worst people in jail. It takes people like this to work hard, and the countless other people that don't get thanked. It takes their efforts to make this city a safer place," he said.
The other nominees were: Nicholas Herfordt, Jeffrey Kopietz, Austin Taylor, Heath Brunow, James Paul, Jeffrey Gassaway, Kimberly Woolery
To date, Crime Stoppers has paid out more than $978,000 in rewards.
