One person was seriously injured in a crash in South Omaha late Monday afternoon.

The crash happened at 31st and Q just after 4:30 p.m.

Officials say 48-year-old Jose De La Cruz-Avalos is being treated at Nebraska medicine for life threatening injuries.

He's currently listed in critical condition.

Omaha Police say Avalos was driving on 31st street and turned onto Q.

This is when another driver, 24-year-old Leonel Ramirez-Cortes slammed into him.

Investigators believe speed may have been a factor.

Cortes was cited for driving without insurance.

Police are still investigating.
