One person is dead following a crash near Highway 275 and Highway 36 Sunday evening.

Douglas County deputies say 19-year-old Tyler Cherrington of Ralston died when the SUV she was driving crossed the grass median on Highway 275 and was hit by a semi carrying cattle.

Cherrington died at the scene.

DCSO officials say 59-year-old Kreg Mitteis, of Orchard was the driver of the semi.

It's unknown why Cherrington's vehicle crossed the median.

Tyler was the daughter of former KMTV senior photographer Dave Cherrington.

Cherrington was a student at Midland University in Fremont, where she was set to graduate next spring with a degree in criminal justice.

Our condolences go out to Dave and his family during this difficult time.
