Police identify suspect in barber shop robbery

Police have identified the suspect in a barber shop robbery Friday morning in Omaha.

Officers responded to Fade Kings Barber Shop, near 29th and Q Street shortly before 10 a.m. for a call of shots fired.

Upon arriving to the scene, police located the suspect, 23-year-old Luca M. Ortiz on the sidewalk on the north side of Q Street, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.

Ortiz was taken into custody and transported to Nebraska Medical Center for treatment.

According to Omaha Police, officers contacted the employees of the shop who say Ortiz was armed with a shotgun and walked in trying to rob them. Gunfire was exchanged between Ortiz and one of the employees. Ortiz was the only one injured in the shooting.

Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
