OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Saturday marks the anniversary of a tragic event most Omahans will never forget.

Thirteen years ago, a 19-year-old gunman walked into Von Maur at Westroads Mall and opened fire on customers who were Christmas shopping and workers just doing their jobs.

He killed eight people, wounded four others, then turned the gun on himself.

From the archives:

Beverly Flynn, Gary Scharf, Maggie Webb, Angie Schuster, Janet Jorgenson, John McDonald, Gary Joy and Diane Trent all lost their lives.

The Omaha Police Department and Von Maur honored the victims on social media on Saturday.
