OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Another American evacuated to the U.S. from the Diamond Princess cruise ship arrived at UNMC/Nebraska Medicine for coronavirus monitoring Tuesday night.
According to a spokesperson with Nebraska Medicine, the person tested positive for the virus but was originally monitored in California at Travis Air Force Base.
Like the evacuee who arrived in Omaha on Monday for monitoring, this individual is the spouse of one of the 13 who arrived for treatment Feb. 17.
This evacuee was transported directly to the National Quarantine Unit on the UNMC/Nebraska Medical Center campus.
Nebraska Medicine says this will be the final time spouses from the Diamond Princess cruise ship will be reunited at UNMC/Nebraska Medicine.
One individual in Omaha still has a spouse elsewhere; however, that person has tested negative for coronavirus and those who are negative won't be transported.
This evacuee brings the total number of people being monitored in Omaha to 15.
Thirteen are being monitored in the 20-bed National Quarantine Unit while two are being cared for in the 10-bed Nebraska Biocontainment Unit.
Thirteen individuals have tested positive for coronavirus while two remain negative. Those who are negative could leave quarantine March 2, Nebraska Medicine says.
