OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - Septemberfest has been canceled for the first time, organizers announced Thursday.
The move was made due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic.
It was previously announced that this year's Labor Day parade would also be canceled.
"We are heartbroken that we can't offer this family-friendly event this year," said Terry Moore, Chairman of Septemberfest, Inc. "Though we were working with public health officials to open in a responsible manner, we just felt the risk for our volunteers, and to members of the public were too high to justify holding the event."
Organizers say they will be back and "bigger and better than ever" come 2021.
Septemberfest would have held from September 4-7 this year.
