9 year old golfer on the way to Augusta

Posted

Remember the name Udyat Sarangdevot. The fourth grader is just nine years old, but is a golfing wonderkid.

For as long as he can remember, Sarangdevot has loved the game of golf.

"When I was three, I used to pick up my dad's golf clubs, and balls would just be on the ground. I would just hit them," he recalls.

Fast forward to now. Sarangdevot competes in tournaments across the country, including the "Drive, Chip, and Putt," where the top finishers travel to Augusta to compete right before the masters. Udy is one of only 80 kids competing in various age groups, narrowed down from a pool of thousands. Until then, even though it's cold outside, this kid isn't thinking snow. He is thinking putting greens.

The 2017 Drive, Chip & Putt Championship will broadcast live on the Golf Channel on April 2, the eve of the Masters Tournament. Remember the name Udyat Sarangdevot, because he's on par to be the next Tiger Woods.
