Creighton women's basketball takes down Nebraska

The Creighton women's basketball team got the best of Nebraska in its in-state rivalry matchup as the Bluejays came away with an 80-64 win at D.J. Sokol Arena in Omaha Sunday afternoon.

Senior Marissa Janning led the Jays with 22-points with a career-high seven three-pointers for Creighton. Janning also added nine assists. 

Nebraska's sophomore forward Jessica Shepard came away with her sixth double-double of her career with 22 points and 11 rebounds. Shepard was the only Nebraska player to score in double figures. 

The Huskers shot just 37.3 percent from the field, while Creighton shot 41.9 percent. The Bluejays hit 15 three-pointers as a team to Nebraska's three. The loss drops Nebraska to 4-7 on the season, while Creighton improved to 5-4.

Up next, Nebraska will finish up its non-conference schedule with a showdown with the No. 1 ranked UConn Huskies Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Devaney Center in Lincoln.

Creighton will also wrap up its non-conference schedule against Marist Wednesday in Poughkeepsie, New Jersey. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m.
