The Huskers will be in a unique situation heading into their final game of the regular season against the Iowa Hawkeyes. Ryker Fyfe stepped in at quarterback as Tommy Armstrong missed the game against Maryland with a hamstring injury.
However, Mike Riley said Fyfe underwent surgery to place a pin in his left wrist after breaking a bone on senior day. Riley said he is not sure if either Armstrong or Fyfe will be ready to go. Riley did say that Armstrong is improving and he will not know just how much he can do until the team practices tonight.
Riley said he is hopeful that the team will have a better idea of Armstrong's status by Tuesday. He said Zack Darlington will be the next man up and that he did not want to pull Patrick O'Brien's redshirt for just one game.
When asked who would take the snaps with the number one team at tonight's practice, Riley said he did not know, but he is hopeful that Armstrong, Fyfe and Darlington would all be able to pitch in.
Riley said kicker Drew Brown will be able to kick tonight at practice after suffering an injury at Maryland. He also said Stanley Morgan and Dedrick Young are both probable for the game against Iowa.
