OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - Creighton will be downsizing by cutting 60 non-faculty jobs, according to a letter sent to school employees.

Creighton president Rev. Daniel Hendrickson wrote that they are still working on the details of the plan, but they expect a final decision by June 2. Hendrickson said these cuts are necessary for the university's long-term stability.

The letter said staff members will receive severance packages and at least 30 days notice before their positions are terminated.

Creighton will also eliminate some open positions.

Sixty non-faculty members make up 4.5 percent of the university's non-faculty workforce.
