Escaped inmate taken into custody in Iowa

Escaped inmate Eric Scott is in custody in Council Bluffs.

Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office says a caller called emergency dispatch saying a male subject that looked like Scott was walking in the area of Joslin Avenue and Borden Road.

Deputies identified the man as Eric Scott, and was in possession of a handgun, which was reported stolen as it was taken at the time of escape. 

Scott was transported to Pottawattamie County Corrections and is being held for possession of a firearm by a felon and out of state charges of escape and false imprisonment.

"Once they were able to talk to him he admitted, ‘Oh well you got me,’ told them his name, was able to locate the deputy’s firearm in a bag he carried with him," said Pottawattamie Co. Sheriff Jeff Danker.

Scott was serving prison time in Lincoln for a DUI and was being transported to a sexual assault of a child hearing when he escaped. 

In 2002, he was convicted of 1st degree sexual assault in Burt County.
