Hail hits Omaha as severe thunderstorm rolls through Douglas County

Hail of many sizes pelted areas of Omaha as severe thunderstorm rolled through Douglas County.

Golf-ball sized mixed with pea-size hail was reported from 93rd and Spring streets, and tennis-ball to baseball-sized hail was reported in Benson.

Dime-sized hail was reported in Council Bluffs at about 10:05 p.m.; pea-size hail was reported at 72nd and Giles about 10 minutes later.

Reports of dents in cars and broken rear windshields came in from all over the city.

"Our windshields are completely broken, and our neighbors' windshields were shattered in the back," said Lori Ruff, who lives in the 4800 block of Grant Street.

The storm continued to move southeast, with reports of marble-sized hail falling in Bellevue.
