Las Vegas shooting: Omaha's Strength Behind the Blue organizing letter campaign

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - A group with origins in a local police tragedy is organizing a letter-writing campaign of support for the Las Vegas Police Department in the wake of the shooting at Mandalay Bay last night. 

Strength Behind the Blue is encouraging the Omaha community to send letters of support for LVPD. The group has rallied support of the Omaha Police since the aftermath of the death of Omaha Police Officer Kerrie Orozco, who was killed in the line of duty on May 20, 2015. 

"(LVPD) is is mourning the victims among their department, and is reeling from the carnage witnessed as they responded to the attack," the organization said on its Facebook post announcing the letter-writing campaign to support LVPD

"We encourage all members of our community to send letters, drawings, words of strength and support. Strength Behind the Blue will collect and send en masse to the department."
