Fremont, Neb. (KMTV) - A July lawsuit filed against the city of Fremont over land for a Costco chicken processing plant was dismissed Thursday, court records show.
The lawsuit alleged the city of Fremont had illegally declared almost 1,000 acres of land to be substandard and blighted, which allowed tax increment financing to be used for property improvements the plant needs. Four-hundred of those acres were farmland.
The suit can be refiled at the request of complainants. It is unclear why the complainants had the suit dismissed.
According to company officials, the plant site work could begin in a few weeks.
