LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) - A new Nebraska Corrections report is shining light on the events leading up to a deadly uprising at a Nebraska prison.

Prison staffers found and confiscated about 150 pounds of homemade alcohol from inmates at the Tecumseh facility. According to officials, the inmates combined bread, fruit and sugar from the prison's kitchen and stored it in foot lockers.

When the prisoners discovered it had been taken, they started fires and damaged cells.

Corrections officials said they are making changes, including no longer giving inmates fresh fruit.
