Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo has a new seabird in the Suzanne and Walter Scott Aquarium.
Arriving Aug. 23 on a private jet provided by a donor to Wild Care, Inc., Murrey the murre came to Omaha from Massachusetts.
Murrey was found with a two-inch laceration on its left thigh on Feb. 11 at a beach in Massachusetts and was sent to Wild Care, Inc. for rehabilitation. The animal care team did not think she would make it through the night, but eventually became a healthy bird.
Murrey is now part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums' Species Survival Plan.
