Huskers baseball earns NCAA Tournament bid

The Nebraska baseball team earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The Huskers are headed to the Corvallis regional hosted by top overall seed Oregon State.

NU will be the #2 seed in the regional & will face the #3 seed Yale on Friday at 3 p.m. Central time on ESPN3. While the Big Red was #44 in the RPI, Yale comes in with the #48 RPI. The Bulldogs have won eight straight and are 32-16 on the season.

It marks the third time in the last four years the Big Red has made a regional. The Beavers will play Holy Cross at 10 p.m. Central Friday in Corvallis. If Nebraska & Oregon State both win on Friday, they would face off on Saturday. The Huskers played the Beavers twice earlier this season losing both times, 10-1 & 5-2. Oregon State started the year 28-1 & is 26-1 at home this season.

Oregon State earned the overall #1 seed with a 49-4 record. North Carolina will be the #2 seed after going 47-12 this season. The number three seed went to Florida. The Gators went 42-16 heading into regional play. LSU will be the #4 national seed after winning the SEC Tournament & will bring in a 43-17 record into the tournament. The 5th seed went to Texas Tech. The Red Raiders were the co-Big 12 regular season champs. TCU also was the co-Big 12 regular season champs and earned the 6th seed. Louisville will be the #7 overall seed following an ACC regular season title. Stanford, meanwhile, is the #8 national seed and will make its first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2014.

Big Ten Tournament champ Iowa will be the #4 seed in the Houston regional and face the Cougars at 7 p.m. on Friday night.
