Saturday's season opener for Nebraska marks Bob Diaco's first game as the Huskers' new defensive coordinator.  And the new leader of the Blackshirts is eager to kick the campaign off.

"Practices are great but playing in the games is priceless," Diaco said following Tuesday's practice.

And as Diaco and his defense begin to dial in on Arkansas State for NU's season opener, Nebraska's defensive coordinator expects a strong offense from the Red Wolves.

"Innovative system, awesome challenge for our defense," Diaco said. "The head football coach and the offensive coaches have a great dynamic offensive system, they run it really well and have had great success as a team led by their offense."

Saturday gives Husker nation its first real glimpse at Diaco's new 3-4 defensive scheme in live game action. Nebraska kicks off the 2017 season against Arkansas State Saturday night at 7 p.m. inside Memorial Stadium. The contest is being televised on the Big Ten Network.
