OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A half American and half Confederate flag was spotted Saturday atop a large cell tower near Millard West High School off of 180th and Q St.

The man responsible for hanging the flag is working on the tower, telling 3 News Now he likes having it up while he works and that it's a representation of culture, not racism.

The employee said he hangs the flag on every cell tower he works on.

Individuals near the tower stated they are employees of Iconic Communications, a telecommunications service provider, working on implementing 5G 2.5 MIMO technology for Sprint.

Once the man saw 3 News Now reporter Ruta Ulcinaite filming, he removed the flag, saying he doesn't want to get fired.

An employee told 3 News Now they are planning on working on the cell tower until Sunday night.

We reached out to Iconic Communications for a statement but have not received a response.

3 News Now reporter Ruta Ulcinaite will have more on the story at 10 p.m.
