OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A 23-year-old man led Omaha Police officers on a high-speed pursuit Saturday afternoon, eventually flipping his car after nearly hitting an officer.
Officers responded to an area near 101st Plz and Grand Plz at approximately 3:54 p.m. Saturday, attempting to apprehend a driver who fled from a traffic officer.
The driver, identified as 23-year-old Gary Ryan, drove his vehicle through the Terrace Garden Town Homes parking lot at a high rate of speed.
A police report from OPD says Ryan then drove his vehicle directly at an officer at a high speed before swerving.
The officer said he believes Ryan attempted to run him over with his vehicle.
Ryan was apprehended after flipping his car and booked at Douglas County Corrections on various charges, including Attempted Felony Assault on an Officer, Felony Flight to Avoid, Misdemeanor Flight to Avoid, Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under Suspension, Obstruction of an Officer, No Valid Registration, Speeding 16-20mph (original traffic charge), and a warrant out of Sarpy for flight to avoid.
