OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Some students are bringing more than textbooks and homework to Nebraska high schools.
A study by ProjectKnow finds a number of Nebraska teens use drugs and alcohol on school grounds.
One out of five high school students in the state admit to using illegal drugs at school, while over 24% admit to drinking alcohol.
Marijuana use among teens in Nebraska is below the national average; however, 1 in 10 high school students in the state admit to regularly using the substance, ProjectKnow says.
Nationally, two million teens between the ages of 12 and 17 have needed substance abuse treatment while only 150,000 actually receive help, according to a CBS News survey.
