OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A company called Byte recently did a study analyzing emotion-related hashtags, discovering Nebraska uses the happy hashtag more than any other state in the country.

Byte mapped regional trends across America by analyzing 'happy,' 'sad,' and 'angry' Twitter hashtags. Over 320 million monthly Twitter users were used to calculate these trends.

Nebraska also ranked as the most emotional of all Twitter users, meaning Nebraskans use a combination of the above hashtags most often.

Here's what the company learned about the great state of Nebraska:

  • While the national ratio is 4.4 happy tweets for every sad tweet, Nebraska holds a ratio of 6.9 happy tweets for every sad tweet
  • The happiest state on Twitter? Nebraska twitter users use the happy hashtag more than any other state in the country
  • A state of emotions? Nebraska made the top 10 list of states tweeting #happy and #sad most frequently-- #1 for happy and #8 for sad
