OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The Douglas County Health Department is reporting 22 people were hospitalized overnight due to COVID-19.

Health officials say that's a big spike compared to the last few weeks. The department says this could be because clinics were closed over the holiday weekend, leading to more people delayed in seeking treatment.

The health department is recording an additional 150 new cases Wednesday as well. 163 people are currently hospitalized, with 72% of medical beds currently being used. On Tuesday, 67% of beds were in use.
