OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The coronavirus response is forcing many to make changes, and those adjustments are taking a toll on area restaurants.

The Iowa Restaurant Association says in the first month under restrictions, 87% of the state's restaurant and bars have cut staff.

Less than half of those restaurants say they expect to be able to re-hire all of their former employees.

Nearly 40,000 Iowa hospitality industry workers have already filed for unemployment.
